Financial Support Requirements

Graduate students must meet certain eligibility requirements each term that they receive the benefits (stipend, tuition remission, health insurance) of graduate fellowships or assistantships:

  • admitted to a degree program. Note that graduate students enrolled in fully online programs that exempt them from paying campus-based fees are not eligible for graduate assistantships.
  • enrolled full-time (see Full-time Enrollment Requirements policy for details)
  • have maintained good academic performance and progress during each term of the award

Students will have their financial support cancelled if they do not meet these requirements, with the exception of students approved in advance to be a Traveling Scholar, or a student approved by the Graduate College for a reduction in hours needed for full-time enrollment due to an extreme medical issue (documentation from a doctor is required).
