A majority of graduate students receive some form of financial support during their graduate study. "Student Finances" provides an overview of financial assistance at UCF. For additional financial aid information, visit the Office of Student Financial Assistance or talk with your graduate program director.
Award Periods
Most UCF graduate fellowships are offered during February-April each year. Fellowships are normally offered for one academic year (Fall and Spring semesters) and are not renewable. Most university fellowships are reserved for incoming degree-seeking graduate students who plan to enroll full time. If you are interested in being considered for university fellowships, talk with your graduate program director, as most university fellowships are awarded by college and program nomination.
The award period for loans extends later into early summer and require students to establish financial need based on the FAFSA.
Things You Should Know
Cost of Attendance - Each year in July the university publishes the tuition and fees schedule for the coming academic year. These new rates apply beginning in Fall semester. Also, please remember that the Graduate Resident Rate and Graduate Non-Resident Rate that appear on your Fee Invoice include tuition and local fees (e.g., building fee, transportation fee, capital improvement fee).
Cashier's Office and Student Accounts - Pay your semester bill in the Cashier's Office, through the dropbox outside Millican Hall, at the Cashier's window by the UCF Bookstore, or through Web payment. If you have problems with your student account, visit the Student Accounts office in Millican Hall for help.
myUCF - Use myUCF to check the status of your student account and financial aid.
Responsibility to Pay - Students are responsible for paying their semester bill by the published payment deadline. See the Web Enrollment Guide at http://registrar.ucf.edu for more information about payment deadlines and procedures.
Assistantships and Tuition Support - If you have a graduate assistantship, make sure you complete your appointment paperwork through your hiring department. Tuition support is tied to assistantship appointments, unless you have a fellowship that includes tuition support. Assistantships and tuition support require students to be full-time, degree-seeking students in good academic standing. See the Graduate Catalog for details about assistantship and tuition support requirements.
Looking for On-campus Employment - If you're looking for employment in an on-campus office, check with Career Services for on-campus job opportunities and talk with UCF faculty and staff that you know and ask if they know of openings.
For more information about UCF graduate student finances, see Financial Information in the Graduate Catalog.
Resolving Payment Questions
Financial Aid - Sometimes students have financial aid issues that prevent payment processing. Students should read all notices from UCF Student Financial Assistance and comply with information requests and other requirements to facilitate timely payment processing. Payment processing may be delayed due to verification requests, missing documents, loan adjustments, among other things. Remember to review your financial aid information in myUCF and respond to requests. Contact Student Financial Assistance if you have questions (Phone: 407-823-2827 or e-mail: finaid@mail.ucf.edu).
Assistantship - If you have a graduate assistantship, it pays through UCF Human Resources according to the biweekly pay schedule. If you have questions about your assistantship payments, see your employer.
Tuition Support - Tuition support is tied to your graduate assistantship appointment, unless you're receiving it as part of a graduate fellowship award. See your employer if you have questions about whether you are eligible to receive graduate tuition assistance, how much tuition assistance you will receive, or when it will show on your student account. Your employer can answer almost all of your questions. If necessary, your employer will refer the question to UCF Student Accounts (Phone: 407-823-2433) or UCF Graduate Studies, depending on the nature of the question.
Fellowships - If you have a payment question about your graduate fellowship, send your question to gradfellowship@mail.ucf.edu or come see the College of Graduate Studies in Millican Hall 230. We'll be happy to help you.
Refunds - If your fellowship or loan results in a credit balance on your student account, you will get a refund. Contact UCF Student Accounts (Phone: 407-823-2433) if you have questions about your refund.
